Project World Health is a student-run organization at the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine that conducts a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic every year, providing medical services to the underserved population in the region of Jarabacoa. We rely on contributions from the community for medications and supplies to use during clinics and for funds to send our volunteers - physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, and medical students - on the trip.
As a volunteer student group, our mission is to:
- Provide medical care and education to underserved populations in an international setting.
- Promote education and dialogue on global health issues in the community and the University.
- Develop sustainable initiatives that will leave lasting benefits to those we serve.
- Give future physicians exposure to clinical medicine in the preclinical years, with an emphasis international health problems.
Our next medical mission trip is: (Spring 2013 Trip Dates TBD)
